David E. Anderson, Ph.D., has joined The Meadows as Executive Director, effective February 16, 2015. Dr. Anderson has over 30 years of experience in the behavioral health field, primarily in executive leadership roles in private practice, academic, hospital, and treatment facility settings.
“I am eager and honored to fill the role of Executive Director for The Meadows, which has been an industry leader for more than 35 years. We hear words such as holistic, family-centered, evidence-based, and integrated being tossed around, but the Meadows Model puts depth and meaning to these words and concepts. The Meadows continues to be the most trusted name in treating trauma and addiction. I am excited to be part of a team comprised of such compassionate individuals.” In addition to overseeing facility operations and management teams, Dr. Anderson will also enjoy the provision of direct clinical services (psychological assessment and individual/group therapy) in his new position.
Anderson’s previous positions include Chairman of the Psychology Department, Bethel College (St. Paul, MN); Executive Director of Sierra Tucson (Tucson, AZ); Chief Operating Officer of the Crisis Response Center (Tucson); and Executive Director of Mirasol Recovery Centers (Tucson). Even before coming on board, The Meadows was no stranger to Dr. Anderson. “My introduction to The Meadows came many years ago from a friend who went through the treatment program. As a result of this experience, he witnessed a major transformation and turned his life around – and never looked back. I’ll never forget that experience, and that’s yet another reason why I hold a special place in my heart for The Meadows.”
Sean Walsh, who is transitioning from Executive Director of The Meadows to Chief Executive Officer of all Meadows programs to be able to more effectively support The Meadows, Gentle Path at The Meadows, workshops, and the Claudia Black Young Adult Center, sees Dr. Anderson as a big asset to the organization.
“We are thrilled and very fortunate to have Dr. Anderson come onboard as Executive Director for the Meadows. With over 30 years of leadership and clinical excellence, David’s vision and passion are to provide world-class care to our patients, families and referents – and all will benefit from his leadership,” said Walsh.
Dr. Anderson holds a Ph.D. in Clinical & Community Psychology from the University of South Florida. He is past president of both the Southern Arizona Psychological Association and the Brain Injury Association of Arizona.
